Seikukai UK is an affiliated dojo of Seikukai (誠空会), founded in 1977 in Japan. It is led by Barry Grehan and trains twice a week at two village halls in Oxfordshire, England.
Two classes run each week: a Junior Class for children, and a Kakuto Karate class — the full-contact, jacket-grappling style that Seikukai has developed in Japan.
The dojo operates independently under the guidance of Seikukai Honbu in Ikeda, Japan. Beginners, experienced karate-ka, and martial artists from any background are welcome. Please get in touch before your first visit using the contact details below.
About Seikukai
Founded over 45 years ago in Kawanishi, Hyogo, Seikukai (誠空会) is a martial arts dojo training Karate, Kakuto-Karate / 格闘空手 (JaketMMA, full-contact), Kickboxing, and offering personal training. Active across the Osaka–Hokusetsu region with our current headquarters in Ikeda, we cultivate the strength to live with kindness and wisdom — guided by the seven virtues of bushido (righteousness, courage, benevolence, respect, sincerity, honor, loyalty).
Beyond our three branches in Japan (Ikeda Honbu, Kawanishi, Takarazuka), Seikukai is connected with affiliated dojos in Indonesia (4), the United Kingdom (1), and Shimane (1).
We welcome students of all ages and levels — from kids (age 4 and up) to adults, from complete beginners to experienced fighters looking for the next challenge.

Grading: kyu and dan gradings for affiliated dojos are certified by Seikukai Honbu in Japan. Please ask your instructor for details.
