Member Dojo Recruitment

Bring a dojo that combines the spirit of budo with the practicality of combat sports into the International Combat Karate Federation (ICKF).
Regardless of style or school, we aim to advance martial-arts culture beyond regions and borders through safe, fair competition and technical exchange among member dojos.

📣 Now welcoming member dojos — Following the federation’s launch in November 2025, we are inviting new member dojos. During this founding phase, the joining fee and annual dues are free. Any style or size is welcome — feel free to contact us.

1. Eligibility for Official Federation Tournaments

For gi combat-karate rules, we use an original class system based on a body-index of height (cm) + weight (kg), reducing advantages or disadvantages from physique so athletes compete on technique. (Kickboxing rules use conventional weight classes.)

2. Shared GRTP-Compliant Head-Safety Standards

We share safety standards across member dojos — 14-/90-day knockout-history management and physician-approved graduated return to play (the GRTP protocol) — giving peace of mind to guardians and dojos.

3. Joint Training & Instructor Exchange Among Member Dojos

Through joint training and instructor exchanges that go beyond a single dojo, we raise teaching quality and inspire students.

4. A Network of Organizations in Japan and Abroad

Join a circle of friendship and technical exchange with member dojos in Japan and overseas — Indonesia (Jakarta / Semarang / Tangerang, 4 dojos), the United Kingdom (SEIKUKAI UK / Barry Grehan), and Kickboxing Gym 3K (Osaka).

  • Dojos, sports clubs or voluntary organizations that teach martial arts or combat sports
  • Organizations able to comply with the federation rules, the competition rules and head-safety standards
  • Must not be antisocial forces or related parties
  • Any style or school is welcome (including gi grappling, striking, throwing and groundwork)

* Instructors teach under their own organization’s responsibility, and a participant safety-management system is assumed to be in place.

Membership involves a review by the federation office and an interview with the president. We ask dojos to join based on shared philosophy and safety standards — not on price. Even during the founding phase, we value the quality of our member dojos.

  • Issuance of an official ICKF membership certificate
  • Priority entry to federation tournaments and member-dojo entry-fee rates
  • Listing in the “Member & Affiliated Dojos” directory on the federation site
  • Sharing of federation rules, tournament-operation know-how and the GRTP protocol
  • The right to take part in joint training and instructor exchanges among member dojos
  • The right to attend instructor/referee seminars (in preparation; planned to begin within FY2026)
Joining feeFree (founding-phase member benefit)
Annual duesFree (founding-phase member benefit)
Tournament entry feeSet per tournament in the event guidelines (discounts for member dojos)

* The International Combat Karate Federation was established only in November 2025. As part of a founding-phase effort to expand the network, the joining fee and annual dues are free for the time being. Should fees be introduced in the future, member dojos will be notified in advance.

  1. Inquiry — Contact the federation office by email (info@seikukai.co.jp).
  2. Office interview — We ask about your dojo’s operations, instruction, location and size, online or by email.
  3. Meeting with the president — Online or at the Ikeda HQ, we share the purpose of membership and operating policy.
  4. Submit application — Submit the prescribed application form, which is then reviewed by the federation.
  5. Approval & certificate — After approval, we issue the official ICKF certificate and list you in the “Member & Affiliated Dojos” directory on the federation site.

Q. Can we join even if our style is different?

Yes. Any organization that can share and respect the gi combat-karate rules may join, regardless of style — striking, grappling and groundwork backgrounds are all welcome.

Q. Can an individual join?

Membership is by dojo or organization. Individuals are welcome to try a trial enrollment at a nearby member dojo (such as Seikukai’s branches).

Q. Can dojos overseas join?

Yes. We already have a track record of friendship and technical exchange with affiliated dojos overseas, such as in Indonesia and the United Kingdom.

Q. Can we take part in tournaments only?

Federation tournaments also accept individual entries from non-member dojos (conditions are set per event). Please contact us about whether to consider membership or enter individually.

Q. Will our dojo’s independence be preserved?

Yes. Each member dojo independently runs its own policies, instruction and pricing. The federation provides rules, tournaments and a place for exchange, and does not intervene in member dojos’ operations.

Feel free to contact us about membership, visits, tournament participation, or instructor/referee seminars.
